Sustainable Logistics
Making your logistics processes smarter and more efficient, while reducing CO₂ emissions!
Traffic congestion, driver shortages and the growing need for sustainability all impact logistics operations. The Measuring and Improving CO₂ Emissions programme supports carriers in working smarter.
The programme aims to help you gain a better understanding of emissions per order and trip efficiency, use data insights to, for example, make better use of loading space and reduce empty mileage, and prepare CO₂ reports in line with the latest standards to share with customers.
The result is not only lower CO₂ emissions, but also higher efficiency, a more predictable operation and improved margins. Together, we are making logistics ready for the future!
Good to know: This programme is for carriers with N2 or N3 trucks and LSPs and shippers with their own fleet in the Netherlands. LSPs and shippers without their own fleet can encourage their supply chain partners to participate. Our support is completely free of charge for participating companies.
The Benefits
CO₂ reports that meet the latest standards and customer requirements. This prepares you for current and future reporting needs (CSRD, VSME, ISO 14083)
Clear insights into CO₂ emissions per order, load factor, and empty kilometres, yielding smarter operations
Performance insights, including benchmarking against other companies
Fewer empty kilometres and better load utilisation, resulting in lower CO₂ emissions
Higher profitability through lower costs and smarter operations
A process designed for continuous improvement
5 Steps
Short description
Effort
01.
CO2 Annual Report
Calculate and report total CO₂ emissions based on the latest standards and regulations
3 working days over a period of several weeks
02.
Order-level Insights
Link transport data to CO₂ data to gain insights per order or trip. Improve data quality and accessibility
8–10 working days over a period of 3 months
03.
Continuous Improvement
Translate insights into concrete improvement actions within daily operations
10–15 working days over a period of 6 months
Activities
- Understand CO₂ reports
- Identify opportunities to reduce emissions, especially through higher load utilisation and fewer empty kilometres
- Calculate the improvement potential
- Develop an action plan with concrete measures
- Set up a continuous improvement process
- Implement improvement actions and measure results
Goal
Analyse and improve CO₂ emissions within your own operations
CO2 Analysis Software
In steps 3 and 4, you learn how to analyse data and implement improvements based on those insights. For this analysis special software is required. Several software packages meet the programme’s requirements. You have the option to take out a trial licence for the duration of the project in step 3.
The programme and the software provider cover most of the costs. A contribution of €1,000 is required from the carrier. After completing step 3, you are under no further obligation.
AllChiefs can advise you on the features, pros and cons of each tool.
You can find the contact details of each provider at: https://co2meter.nu/over/partners
Apply
Do you want to participate as a carrier, with or without your supply chain partners (customers, partners, subcontractors or charters)? Apply at CO2meter.nu and select AllChiefs as your preferred advisor for steps 3 and 4.
Important: Each carrier must apply individually.

04.
Collaborative Improvement
Share data with customers and supply chain partners to achieve joint emission reductions
5–8 working days over a period of 6 months
Activities
- Identify joint opportunities to reduce CO₂ emissions
- Establish secure data sharing between partners
- Develop a joint action plan with concrete measures
- Set up a continuous improvement process with partners
- Implement improvement actions and measure results
Goal
Analyse and improve CO₂ emissions together with customers and suppliers (charters)

Deepening
Use the Load Performance Indicator (LPI) to further optimise loading and transport efficiency
8–10 working days over a period of 6 months
AllChiefs supports your company in steps 3 and 4.
Together with you and your supply chain partners, we will analyse your CO₂ emissions, load utilisation and empty mileage to identify improvements, and take steps together to achieve lasting improvements. This ranges from optimising load capacity to better coordinating transport with customers, suppliers and fellow (transport) partners to increase your efficiency.

Our approach
The goal of our guidance is that, at the end of the programme, you can continue to make improvements independently and together with your supply chain partners. We do this through a six-month programme, during which we tailor the approach to your company and way of working.
01. Kick-off & Onboarding
We start with an introduction where we discuss expectations, planning, and working agreements. In addition, we take a deep dive into your company, customers, and activities, so that we fully understand where the opportunities and challenges lie.
- Align objectives, scope, roles, and planning
- Introduce key concepts
- Present the toolkit that supports the improvement process
02. Baseline Measurement
We analyse your data and, based on this, create a tailored step-by-step plan and develop the right tools to give you control over your efficiency.
- Define baseline emissions
- Analyse CO₂ and transport data
- Prepare for the upcoming work sessions
03. Insights & Improvement Opportunities
In two interactive working sessions, we explore the results of the analysis together. We examine where efficiency differences arise and jointly identify the key opportunities for improvement.
- Facilitate joint work sessions
- Interpret results and identify improvement opportunities
- Define the action plan and continuous improvement process
- Establish data-sharing setup
04. Action Plan & Implementation
We translate the insights into a concrete action plan with clear goals, responsibilities, and a step-by-step plan for execution. Potentially together with other involved parties.
- Execute the agreed action plan
- Implement the continuous improvement process
- Implement data sharing
05. Evaluation & Embedding
After 3 to 6 months, we evaluate progress. Depending on your needs, we can also provide interim one-to-one support.
- Measure results
- Reflect and embed improvements in daily operations
- Conduct joint evaluation
- Prepare the final report
